The ClearLeaf story: when innovation transforms agriculture
It all started with a simple question: if science has revolutionized human health, why not do the same for agriculture?
Two visionary companies, PBW Biologica and BDA Life Sciences, shared a common mission: to develop innovative and safe solutions to improve quality of life. PBW Biologica specialized in the research and development of FDA-regulated products for the medical and veterinary sectors, offering safe and effective alternatives. BDA Life Sciences focused on funding and incubating businesses in the life sciences sector, driving innovation in biotechnology. As agriculture faced growing challenges such as soil depletion, pest resistance, and the environmental impact of agrochemicals, both companies saw a unique opportunity: to bring the same technology that had transformed human health to crop protection.
They joined forces—combining expertise, teams, and technology—to create ClearLeaf, with a clear purpose: to transform agriculture through patented solutions that reduce reliance on harmful chemicals, enabling more efficient, safe, and sustainable production.

Evolution: planting the future
Today, ClearLeaf continues to lead agricultural innovation with a sustainable approach rooted in science and ongoing development. Its commitment goes beyond productivity—it’s about a healthier planet. Through research and strategic collaboration, the company keeps delivering tools that help farmers grow healthier crops without disrupting the natural balance of the environment.
The story of ClearLeaf is the story of agricultural evolution, where science and sustainability move forward together toward a greener future.

New products

GotaBlanca Home & Garden is the domestic-use version of our successful agricultural product. In 2022, GotaBlanca Home & Garden was approved for sale in Costa Rica. Our value proposition stands out when compared to existing products on the market—many offer little to no effectiveness, while others may be more efficient but pose risks to children and pets, requiring mixing and special precautions for safe use at home. Our product was developed to meet the growing and lucrative demand for ready-to-use solutions for home and garden care. Our latest innovation is already available in Costa Rica, where it has seen great success. We will soon expand distribution across the Central American region.
Patents
GotaBlanca combines two distinct and innovative technological approaches that together redefine strategies for managing fungi and bacteria across a wide range of sectors, in both pre- and post-harvest applications. ClearLeaf filed patents for these technologies through WIPO PCT and the USPTO in 2019, and has since progressed to national and regional patent applications in over 100 countries.
We are pleased to share that we have begun receiving national-phase patent approvals in several countries. Currently, over 30% of our national-phase patent applications have been granted.
Organic certification
GotaBlanca is certified as an input for organic agriculture in Europe (EC No. 889/2008), Japan (JAS/MAFF), and Costa Rica (MAG 29782).
Although organic growers make up a small portion of total agricultural production, organic certification sends a strong and highly attractive signal to conventional producers seeking lower-impact alternatives.
Regulatory process
Since 2022, ClearLeaf has maintained active registrations in Costa Rica, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. Upcoming regulatory processes are planned for Guatemala, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, and Japan.
